SCO raises record-breaking $1.75 million at annual gala fundraiser.

The Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO)held its fundraising gala dinner and concert, Dreams of the Bamboo Flute, on 27 October at Resorts World Sentosa and raised a record $1.75 million, of which $1.7 million will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Cultural Matching Fund from the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth. The funds will go to SCO’s development and operations, and help fulfil its vision of being a world-renowned Chinese orchestra with a uniquely Singaporean character. Into its 21st year, the SCO commemorated its past two decades of achievements with the launch of its 20th anniversary The People’s Orchestra set of English and Chinese books at the gala dinner. The book launch was officiated by guest-of-honour, Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.
