The new Tampines Regional Library at Our Tampines Hub has just opened with more space and facilities compared to its previous location at Tampines Avenue 7.

Spanning five floors, the library has a seating capacity of 886 and houses a collection of approximately 400,000 books, 347 magazine titles and 16,800 audio-visual items.

It has also collaborated with several government organisations to create a kampong spirit within its premises. On Level 2, there’s a Culinary Studio by People’s Association (PA) where cooking classes will be held alongside the library’s cookery collection. There’s also National Heritage Board’s Our Tampines Gallery on the same level, where the community history of Tampines is presented through personal memories from the community. NHB is intending to hold programmes and exhibitions here to introduce Singapore’s multicultural heritage to young children. Meanwhile, the PA will be opening up an indoor playground in October on Level 3 where the early literacy baby books are.

According the NLB, Tampines Regional Library is the first public library to be relocated to commercial space. Bukit Merah Pubic Library will reopen in Vivo City next year, and Yishun Public Library will reopen in Northpoint City then as well.
