Many of us love the arts but can’t afford the time or don’t know where to start. Here’s a nifty guide of handpicked events which should give you a good flavour of Singapore’s busy arts scene.

With close to 30 films, exhibitions and performances happening across 19 days, this pre-festival to the Singapore International Festival of Arts takes on the theme of ‘Post-Empires’ through various mediums of the arts that include an augmented reality tour of the historic Tanjong Pagar Railway station.



18 – 21 June
The Esplanade

The Esplanade’s annual youth festival is back for its sixth edition with an array of music and dance performances. A highlight of the festival is the SixTeen Dance Challenge Showcase, an intensive 16-hour bootcamp led by some of Asia’s most prominent choreographers like Honey J and Waackxxxy (Korea) that cumulates in a live performance on the waterfront stage.

Bring your friends, deck yourself in pink, and enjoy the festivities at the annual celebration of the freedom to love while being entertained by an all Singaporean line-up including Inch Chua, ShiGGa Shay, Gentle Bones, and Daren Tan, together with Youtube sensations Munah and Hirzi.

School’s out and what better way explore our museums than through fun-filled interactive exhibitions and activities for the young and young at heart. Pop by the Asian Civilisations Museum to check out ‘Once Upon a Time in Asia: The Animal Race’ that encourages participants to use their five senses to find out more about the history of the Zodiac animals.
