Ella Kembara Ratu Rock (Malaysia)

Malaysia’s Queen of Rock celebrates her 30th year in music in this one-night-only concert where she belts out her greatest hits such as Sembilu and Pengemis Cinta. Ella is Malaysia’s bestselling female artist with over 300,000 records sold during the peak of her career. She has also collaborated with the best musicians in the world such as Slash.

Main² by Teater Ekamatra (Singapore)­

In 1992, Main² was the first Malay language play to be commissioned and staged by Esplanade. It revolves around six interwoven character who are seeking happiness and love despite physical, emotional and psychological abuse in their lives. This new staging features a new cast directed by Aidli ‘Alin’ Mosbit, but still captures the honest portrayal of the Malay community and its social strata in Singapore.

Setan Jawa (Indonesia & Singapore)

This sensory production about a young man who makes a deal with the devil to be with his lover involves a 20-piece Indonesian gamelan ensemble and Singapore’s Metropolitan Festival Orchestra performing to a black-and-white film Setan Jawa. This new film, with its suspenseful and arresting imagery, is directed by acclaimed Indonesia filmmaker Garin Nugroho.

Hikayat Gundik Berirama – The Venopian Solitude (Malaysia) featuring .gif (Singapore)

The Venopian Solitude’s founder Suiko Takahara fashions quirky sounds and rhythms out of everyday objects such as a tissue box and a children’s xylophone. She and her band, The Venopian Solitude, will be jamming with Singapore electronic du0 .gif in an experimental play of beats, synths and immersive vocals. Takahara was nominated for Best Music Arrangement, Best Music Video and Best Album Recording at Malaysia’s music industry awards, Anugerah Industri Muzik in 2014.

Lastly, don’t miss Pasar Pesta bazaar from 21-23 July 2017, 5pm – 1130pm at the Esplanade Waterfront where a wide range of delicious treats and specialty stalls will be set up as part of Pesta Raya!
