Shifus of PPC: A Photo
Shifus of PPC: A Photo Exhibition
Time: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
In light of the potential sale of People’s Park Complex , this year’s Basic Photojournalism class from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information in Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is holding a photo exhibition to showcase the cultural heritage in People’s Park Complex.
The exhibition will feature nine photo essays of profiles who have mastered a trade at People’s Park Complex and People’s Park Food Centre such as a knife sharpener, textile owners and a tai chi master.
There will also be free guided walking tours conducted at 12pm and 4pm on both days. The tour will feature 8 pit stops of the workplaces of our shifus, where attendees can speak to them personally or watch them in action.
On top of the photo showcase, there will be a slew of interactive activities and games:
– At Kopi Corner, attendees can play memory games, pen reflections and snap pictures at a photo booth. Game winners will receive prizes.
– In collaboration with Indigo Scales, an open mic will be conducted from 5 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. on 17 Nov. Attendees are welcome to perform a song or spoken word based on heritage or nostalgia. Sign up for the open mic using this link: http://bit.ly/Shifusofppc
