Singaporean animation production company Tiny Island Productions will be collaborating with Thai animation company Shellhut in a joint venture called Shellhut and Tiny Island Pictures to co-produce 10-feature films with WingsMedia, a subsidiary under China’s 2nd largest media group, Shanghai Media Group.

This joint venture is estimated to be valued at US$250 million, and is the first ever China-Singapore-Thailand animation co-production. It is also the biggest animation film co-operation in Asia to date

Financing for the 10 films have already been fully secured, and an international team of animation veterans will be assembled to produce the films. They will be led by director Paul Chung, who has worked on films such as Shrek and Jungle Book.

Over the next 12 years. Tiny Island Productions hopes to create opportunities to groom and nurture local talents in IP creations, Business and Production Leadership in Animation.

Says David Kwok, CEO of Tiny Island Productions, “We want to create high quality feature films that can compete with the best from around the world, films that would be considered for Oscar nominations. It sounds like an impossible dream, but that’s a target we have set for ourselves.”
