In January, the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) performed at the Changi General Hospital, filling its atrium with familiar tunes such as ‘Bengawan Solo’, ‘Di Tanjong Katong’ and ‘Over the Rainbow’. This is part of the SCO Caring Series, which was initiated in 2007 to bring the healing touch of Chinese orchestral music to hospitals and nursing homes. All concerts in this series are conducted by SCO assistant conductor Moses Gay, and April will see the SCO bringing joy to patients and healthcare personnel at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Alexandra Hospital and Jurong Community Hospital; as well as through closed-door concerts at St Andrew’s Community Hospital and Peacehaven Nursing Home.
