The recently re-opened Sengkang Public Library at Compass One Mall is bigger (18% increase in floor area, 56% more magazine titles) and prettier (its design is a soothing water theme, taking inspiration from the neighbourhood’s history as a riverside port and fishing village).

It has also boosted its hip factor because it is the only library in Singapore with a dedicated space for tweens aged 10 to 14. This area not only has an impressive collection of books on manga and cosplay, it also offers flexible seating to facilitate discussions and group activities. There are programmes for tweens held every Friday at 3pm such as making soft toys from comics and a cosplay photo workshop.
