A DOUBLE BILL: THE STEVE MCQUEENS X WONK (JP)

Experience the epitome of modern soul and jazz with two cutting edge bands – our very own The Steve McQueens (check out the profile we did on them here) with their magnetic electric jazz and soul as well as experimental soul band WONK from Tokyo. Both bands have been around the international jazz festival circuit wowing fans with their music and now, you can catch both of them in one awesome evening.

CREATIVE CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY EXHIBITION 2017

How’s this for an artsy break in between the frenzied festive shopping at Orchard Road this weekend? Head over to Level 4 of ION Orchard to appreciate over 50 works by four calligraphy masters – Tay Chee Toh, a 1985 Cultural Medallion recipient; Sim Pang Liang who has won calligraphy prizes around the world; Yong Cheong Thye, the Official Spokesperson of the Chinese Calligraphy of Singapore; and Tang Wen Chang, the Artistic Director of the Singapore Board-Casting Corporation. They will be holding a talk on Sat, 16 Dec at 5pm and doing a demonstration on Sun, 17 Dec at 3pm.

LATIN CHRISTMAS FIESTA

If Latin music is your jam, grab those dancing shoes and make your way to Timbre+ where Havana Social Club is bringing you live music with a good mix of Salsa, Cha Cha, Bachata, Latin pop, Reggaeton, Samba, Rumba and more! There will be a trial session to get you warmed up at 7pm and Santa is also coming around 7.30pm so you can groove together with him too! Admission is free.

THE LOCAL PEOPLE X SOUTH BEACH AVENUE: SANTA’S WORKSHOP @ THE SOUTH POLE

Check out the perfect festive art market for the whole family! Not only will there be a communal dining experience in the basement plaza with plenty of food stalls and a plethora of festive stalls selling Singapore-made and locally-designed products, there will also be workshops (check out the Christmas Calligraphy workshop by Endllxly here), carnival games, LED balloon giveaways (8-10pm), and an art wall backdrop which anyone can help decorate. There’s also a DIY gift wrapping paper station so that you can have both fun and be productive at the same time!

URBAN VENTURES STREET PARTY X HOUSE OF NOISE 2017

If you’re in need for some chill vibes but still need to do clear that Christmas shopping checklist, we recommend this event where there’ll be three stages, 19 bands, 13 DJs, F&B pop-ups AND a Christmas Market all in one spot. This fun-filled street event of art, music and culture will feature musicians such as Jack and Rai and Inch, stalls from local businesses such as Center Pottery Singapore and Plain Supplies, and local grub such as Bao Makers and Lime House. There will even be free express manicures (5pm – 7.30pm) and face painting (5 – 9pm) that evening courtesy of Vaniday.
