The Voilah! French Festival returns with a bounty of cultural activities this April and May. Here are five that made us go, “Ooh la la!”

ONCE UPON A TIME TOMORROW

8 April – 21 May, Gardens by the Bay

Be transported to re-imagined landmark destinations around the world with French photographer Chris Morin-Eitner’s photo-paintings of a world that is overtaken by forces of nature. Over 90 images will be exhibited, including the global debut of five evocative images of Singapore.

THE ART BEHIND THE GAME: THE UBISOFT EXPERIENCE

18 April – 25 May, National Design Centre

In a special collaboration with Ubisoft, a French video game publisher, Voilah! will present a behind-the-scenes look at the making of popular video game Assasin’s Creed. At the same time, visitors can learn about the game creation and development process, as well as the contributions of Ubisoft’s Singapore studio.

LES SONATES FRANÇAISES

24 April, Esplanade Recital Studio

It is the perfect pairing of local talent with French culture as husband-and-wife duo, violinist Siew Yi Li and pianist Beatrice Lin perform romantic violin sonatas featuring famous French composers such as Claude Debussy, Gabriel Pierné and Gabriel Fauré. Tickets can be purchased here.

6TH FRENCH ANIMATION FILM FESTIVAL

19 – 21 May, Alliance Française Theatre

This year’s French Animation Film Festival will show six movies for the young and young-at-heart, including Ma Vie de Courgette (My Life as a Zucchini) by Claude Barras, which was nominated as Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars this year.  Contact Alliance Française for more information.
