SONAM KAPOOR BUYS RIGHTS OF KRISHNA UDAYASANKAR’S BOOKS

Famous Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor has acquired the rights of Krishna Udayasankar’s The Aryavarta Chronicles with plans to adapt it for the big screen.

Krishna is a Singapore-based Indian author who wrote this bestselling series which is a modern retelling of the Mahabharata, one of the two Sanskrit epic poems of ancient India. The series comprises three novels – Govinda, Kaurava, and Kurukshetra. She is also a lecturer at the Nanyang Business School with a PhD in Strategic Management.

Sonam, the daughter of actor Anil Kapoor, is known to be an avid reader, and first reached out to Krishna over Twitter about how much she had enjoyed The Aryavarta Chronicles. In an interview with The Hindustan Times, Krishna said that Sonam’s “passion for the story and its characters; and her down-to-earth attitude totally blew me away…her energy is going to make this a great collaboration that will be a game-changer in many ways. I look forward to working with her.”
