Here are a few tips on making that festive family outing to Gardens by the Bay as spectacular and hassle-free as possible!

BUY TICKETS A DAY IN ADVANCE

This year’s show is charging an admission fee to help manage the crowd. While tickets are sold at the ticketing booths each day, it’s best to buy yours in advance to avoid disappointment. Do take note that tickets can be purchased online in advance, at least a day before the day of the visit here. Children below 0.9m can enter for free (maximum three kids for each paying adult).

BLIZZARD PREP

The ultimate kiddy highlight of Christmas Wonderland would have to be Blizzard Time at the Spalliera where bubbly “snowflakes” are floating around amidst sparkly medieval Christmas light sculptures. Tip: wear sandals for this as it can get pretty soggy after that! A change of clothes and a small towel to dry up is also essential. Optional: bring along a bubble wand as well to add to the floaty goodness! “Snowfall” happens at these following times every evening if the weather is good: 6.50pm, 7.55pm, 8.55pm, 10pm and 10.30pm.

MAKE IT A PHOTO OUTING

A good way to occupy the wriggly young ones while you are trying to get viral photos for your own Instagram account is to make them photographers as well. Pass them disposable cameras or old digital cameras/smartphones so they can create their own images from this memorable outing!  Optional: Print their photos out and make a Christmas scrapbook for show-and-tell at Christmas parties.

DRAW BOUNDARIES WITH THE TOKENS

There are plenty of fun-filled carnival games this year which will definitely draw your young ones in. Do take note that each token is $2 and each game requires 2-3 tokens if they want to have a go at knocking or throwing something. To keep your wallet somewhat intact, it might be a good idea to fix a budget before heading out to Christmas Wonderland e.g. “We will only get X tokens regardless of whether you win a stuff toy”.

A SUPERTREE PICNIC

While there are plenty of dining places at Gardens by the Bay, we think the most relaxing way to grab a bite is to pack a picnic box (or buy scrumptious nosh from the Festive Market) and dine at this circular patch of grass by the Supertrees and just outside the Supertree Dining restaurants. It’s also ensures you snag that perfect viewing spot for the Garden Rhapsody show (see next point).

DANCE TO A GARDEN RHAPSODY

The way to end the Christmas Wonderland outing with a bang is to watch the Supertrees at Gardens by the Bay come to life in a spectacular light and sound show. There’s also a perfect Christmas soundtrack currently accompanying this show, so it will definitely put you in that perfect festive mood. Show times are at 7.45pm and 8.45pm.
