“Sollum Swaramum” is an evening
“Sollum Swaramum” is an evening of Tamil poetry reading by a range of Singaporean poets, such as KTM Iqbal (S.E.A Write Award (2001) and Cultural Medallion Award (2014)), Pichinikkadu Elango (Golden Point merit award for the Poetry category), MK Kumar (Kanadsan award by Singapore Tamil writers association in 2017), Subiksha (the Kavimalai Poetry Competition and the National Poetry Competition), Suba Senthilkumar (2nd prize in Golden point award, in Tamil poetry category, 2015) and Elancharan (winner of the Montblanc x Esquire Six-Word Story Prize 2017), Mohamed Ali (written for Television for the past 25 years) and Saba. Muthu Natarajan (wrote two poetry books titled, ‘Ammaavukkaaga…’ and ‘Ahathin Muham’) and a chamber music recital by upcoming Singaporean Indian musicians. In this inaugural season of this series, the poems featured will reflect the human emotions and corresponding musical melodies, interconnecting the Rasa (aesthetic experience) and the Ragas (melodies). The music performance will feature winners from the Singapore’s National Music Indian Competition held by the National Arts Council, across the past years.
This programme is a highlight in The Arts House’s programming calendar. It will be an event that the Tamil-speaking community look forward to every year at The Arts House.
