Trace the footsteps of Malay dance in Singapore in an evening of newer works and classical dances by Sriwana, Singapore’s oldest Malay performing arts group. This celebratory evening of Sriwana’s work in the Singapore Malay dance scene is helmed by Sriwana’s dancers, its president and artistic director Fauziah Hanom Yusof and vice president Fauzi Anwar.
In a special ending for the evening, Sriwana will be joined by other influential figures from the Singapore Malay dance scene: Malay dance doyenne Som Said, choreographer Osman Abd Hamid, and dance leaders Rizman Kassim, Mazlina Buang and Norlie Ismail, together with dancers from Sri Warisan, Era Dance Theatre, Artiste Seni Budaya, Atrika and Kirana Seni.
Established in 1955, Sriwana is the oldest Malay performing arts group in Singapore. It has served as a training ground for many Singapore Malay dance practitioners, and is committed to offering fresh expressions of traditional Malay performing arts practices.
