NTU CCA Singapore is pleased
NTU CCA Singapore is pleased to present Ghosts and Spectres – Shadows of History with works by Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Ho Tzu Nyen, Nguyen Trinh Thi, and Park Chan-kyong. Ghosts, myths, rituals, and traditions present a system of shared knowledge that enables the expression of an unspoken, muted consciousness steeped in the vernacular. The exhibition presents four artistic perspectives that each employs metaphorical references to explore different moments in history and to situate the present. These allegories, seen as “cultural objects,” are embedded in social and political histories offering entry points into the complex web of symbols that slip in and out of everyday consciousness. As such, the works tackle ideas of tradition and modernity, politics and ideologies, memory and history.
