Epilogue – Because Art Is Long & Life Is Short

Sitting at the table, in the Joseph Conrad suite, listening to the quiet whirring of the fan, one can’t help but contemplate the small mercies in life.
~ Hossan Leong
I was having a coffee in the Joseph Conrad suite, just staring out into space, beyond the little windows. The orchid caught my eye. Quintessentially Singaporean and evoking the timelessness of the moment. It made me feel very grateful for life,” says actor/host Hossan Leong, who was one of the guests invited to design a postcard to commemorate Raffles Hotel Singapore’s 130th anniversary. Proceeds from Raffles Inspires — A Secret Postcard Sale benefit the Autism Association (Singapore).
While the moment was captured as a photograph, Leong edited it digitally to create this effect.Inextricably woven into the colonial history of Singapore, the hotel will be closing its main building and Palm Court Wing for restoration this month. Don’t miss A Last, Lingering Look at an Icon, a specially curated tour and exhibition (presented with the National Heritage Board), which will run daily from 1 to 12 August.
