To be displayed around Singapore till end 2017

You might have noticed brightly-coloured wooden planks installed around your neighbourhood. These are just some of the works of art created by 30,000 residents and youths islandwide. Over 300 workshops were organised to facilitate this meaningful community art initiative.  There’s nothing quite as heartwarming as appreciating a diverse range of art that reflects our multicultural heritage, unique local communities and well-loved landmarks. Don’t miss out on them! Plank Art is being displayed in over 200 locations such as parks and gardens.

This event will be abuzz with Dikir Barat, Angklung and Wayang Kulit performances. There will also be craft activities such as Batik umbrella painting, puppet making and making your own Keris (Malay dagger). Venue: Science Centre Singapore
Dates: 5 – 25 August 2017, 6-9pm

ScienceArts at Science Centre Singapore is another interesting community collaboration that melds different forms of science with art appreciation. Around 2,100 residents were involved in 30 pre-festival art co-creation workshops to create 10 breathtaking installations for the Science Art as One Exhibition. One of the installations, titled “Dancing Stars and Community Strength”, had artist Elda Maria Webb Vargas introduce her “art-infused” science concepts to 700 residents. The residents then created 200 Hoberman spheres for a massive, 30-metre-wide kinetic sculpture that will be controlled by electronic Arduino chips. This exhibition launch on 5 August will be the closing event of PAssionArts Festival 2017. However, the exhibition will remain open till 25 August 2017.
