She has worked with Disney and Sanrio to feature their characters in her creations. She has also co-created the menu and food-styled for the Gudetama Café in Singapore. “When inspiration comes, I note it down by sketching in my little sketchbook. It may take a few revisions before I proceed to create it. The sketching allows me to plan for what I need — be it the ingredients, tools or the box,” reveals Shirley Wong, better known by her online avatar Little Miss Bento.

An award-winning bento artist and food stylist, Wong is the only Singaporean to be certified under the Japan Sushi Instructor Association in Tokyo. Since delving into character and design bento in 2011, she has run workshops locally and internationally, and authored Kawaii Bento, Kawaii Deco Sushi and Kawaii Sweet Treats. Her latest cookbook, Kawaii Bread, is slated to be launched
in June.
